Serving the People

Incorporated in 1914, Zephyrhills is a thriving city located in southeastern Pasco County. A five-member, city council-manager form of government operates the full-service city of 11,000 residents.

Founded as a retirement colony for Civil War veterans, Zephyrhills retains its retirement status while quickly becoming a growing suburb of the Tampa area. The city provides complete public safety services with a 34-member police department and two fire stations, housing 21 firefighters. A modern utility system provides water and sewer to city residents and a service area that extends beyond the city limits. Zephyrhills tap water has been voted the “Best Rural Water” in the state. Streets, parks and sanitation departments also provide first-rate services. A municipal airport offers aviation, recreational and industrial opportunities.

The city operates a modern library, a historic museum and – in a public-private venture – has constructed a 23,000 square foot multi-purpose center, operating under the auspices of the East Pasco YMCA. Numerous parks, bicycle trains and other recreational facilities abound.

Downtown Zephyrhills has undergone a recent streetscape design, providing for brick walkways, period lighting and landscaping and street furniture. A progressive partnership with downtown merchants and the Main Street Zephyrhills organization is helping revitalize the historic downtown district. The city provides a variety of other services, and works with Pasco County to offer business incentives, housing programs and meet the area’s transportation needs.
